Duncan Robson – Director
Duncan Robson is a bit of a film junky who taken the time to learn every facet of his trade. Starting in some of the busiest high-end cutting rooms in London, he rapidly became one of the most sought after commercials editors in Europe, where he is still highly regarded for his post skills.
He started directing, creating and designing special effects with miniature models, motion control, and front projection. Companies he worked with included Fotherley Arkadon, Mike Uden Opticals, DirectFX, and Rushes in London.
Duncan’s live action portfolio includes films directed for Jaguar and SEAT, for CitiBank, Dresdner Bank, Clarins, Contax, Triumph, Yardley, and more. Recently he created and directed a US$ 7million campaign consisting of 21 commercials for the Saudi Arabian mobile communications network, Mobily. A shoot of some 60 days using the FlyingCam mini-helicopter and motion control to bring the deserts to life.
Keen to improve his awareness and skill with actors; Duncan took time out from commercials, to adapt two short stories as theatre plays, which he produced and directed. One of them “ A Woman’s Breast” receiving critical acclaim and featuring on SABC’s “Good Morning South Africa”.
Other work Duncan has directed include a documentary about drought and elephant capture in Zimbabwe, which initiated the establishment of a charity called “Operation Oasis”. His film “Isfahan” which was shortlisted at the LA Shorts Festival won bronze at the Houston Film Festival and won best cinematography at the Nickel Festival, as well as being a jury selection at the Cyprus International Film Festival.
Duncan has an incredible talent for performance directing which is evident in his work. He is both master and savant in this field, a true gem.
