Be Phat Motel is a hothouse collaboration between some of Cape Town's hottest young filmmakers, Sean Drummond, Michael Matthews, Shaun Lee and Daniel Mitchell. They have a very exciting and new "integrated" approach to making commercials. While each member of the team specializes in his own aspect of filmmaking (Sean D. - writer and producer, Michael - director, Shaun L. - DOP and Daniel - editor) something they have in common is achievement with "best of year" , and "best film" signifying their much awarded work. Be Phat Motel’s impressive portfolio of work includes high-end music videos, for top South African artists, on international rotation, and commercials, as well as short films. Their successful debut documentary is currently touring festival circuits. All of their work has been highly acclaimed, and between them the team holds an impressive number of award wins and nominations. With three features and a television series in development, Be Phat Motel looks set for a bright future. The boys are currently wrapping up production on a top secret large-scale project to do with the South African advertising industry ‘Oscars’, the Loerie Awards, and looking ahead to music videos with hot newcomers Mama Know Nothing and SA music veteran Vicki Samson.
